Job summary

Cisco Systems, Inc. is seeking a Senior Software Security Lead for a remote U.S. role. You will be the security authority for the IT and Enterprise Operations portfolio, guiding architecture and security delivery across product and engineering teams.

You’ll translate threat trends into prioritized actions, lead threat modeling, and advocate for security-by-design decisions, including AI and LLM-enabled features, to balance risk with business needs.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent practical experience) with 7+ years in software/application security, including senior or lead roles.
• Proven experience leading threat modeling and secure design/architecture reviews for complex software systems, including AI- and LLM-enabled features.
• Demonstrated experience interpreting SAST, DAST, and SCA results and translating findings into risk-based, evidence-backed remediation guidance for cloud-native apps and CI/CD pipelines (containers, Kubernetes).
• Validated ability to influence engineering and product leadership and drive security outcomes across teams without direct authority.

Responsibilities

• Serve as the security authority for the IT and Enterprise Operations portfolio and advise across leadership.
• Maintain a current, data-backed view of security posture and translate threats into prioritized actions.
• Lead threat modeling and security reviews portfolio-wide; enforce security-by-design and architecture trade-offs.
• Coordinate with Product Management, Engineering, IT/Enterprise Operations, and BISOs to align security with business objectives.
• Define and lead security engineering metrics, including risk reduction and developer adoption.
