Job summary

Peraton is seeking a Senior Software Reverse Engineer in Bethesda, MD to conduct in-depth analysis of software, firmware, and hardware to uncover true functionality and vulnerabilities. You will use static and dynamic techniques, including Ghidra/IDA Pro, VMware, and sandboxing, to reveal how systems support mission objectives.

The role requires 8+ years (or advanced degrees), TS/SCI with Poly, and strong C/C++/assembly skills.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree with 8+ years of relevant experience; or Master's with 6+; or PhD with 3+.
Active TS/SCI clearance with Polygraph is required.
3+ years of software reverse engineering experience.
Strong knowledge of Windows/Linux internals and x86/x64/ARM assembly.
Experience with IDA Pro, Ghidra, and Binary Ninja.
Experience with debugging tools such as WinDbg and GDB.
Experience with virtualization and sandboxing (VMware, KVM, QEMU).
Proficiency in C/C++, Assembly and scripting languages (Python, Java, .NET).
Understanding of security practices and vulnerability analysis.

Responsibilities

System Analysis: analyze compiled software and binaries to identify components.
Dynamic System & Environment Analysis: use VMware/KVM/QEMU to observe behavior.
Live Debugging: perform live on-system debugging and correlate with static analysis.
Static Reverse Engineering: decompile/disassemble with Ghidra/IDA Pro to find hidden logic.
Vulnerability Research: identify vulnerabilities and develop PoC exploits.
Tool Chain Mastery: use disk imagers, VM managers, network scanners, debuggers.
Mentorship: guide junior engineers in SWRE methods and tools.
