Location: Remote, USA

Compensation: $105,00.00-$115,000.00

Summary

The Senior Quality Engineer 1 is a hands-on contributor who applies core testing knowledge to in-sprint and integration test efforts. They are responsible for ensuring stories are well-formed for testing, uncovering defects through exploratory techniques, and identifying risks early. Our company provides Corporate Performance Management (CPM) software for large corporations. Our product is designed for high-end deployments at customer facilities or in the Microsoft Azure cloud. The core engine contains complex OLAP-type, multi-dimensional, multi-server, multi-threading, web, and SQL technologies and is specifically designed to solve problems for the Office of Finance at extremely large corporations

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

• Review story requirements and groom for testability and risk areas.
• Execute exploratory testing with session-based or charter-driven techniques.
• Reproduce, isolate, and document software issues and regressions.
• Collaborate with developers and product owners to align on coverage.
• Identify areas where automation could provide benefit and support automation teams.
• Participate in design reviews and retrospectives with a quality-focused lens.

Required Education and Experience

• 4+ years in software testing roles.
• Solid foundation in exploratory and session-based testing.
• Exposure to cloud-based or enterprise applications.
• Participation in story grooming and release risk evaluation.
• Experience querying and verifying data with SQL or similar tools.
• Direct knowledge of Azure cloud or similar.
• Ability to derive and seek information from observability tools.

Preferred Education and Experience

• 5+ years in quality-related roles.
• Exposure to risk modeling, test heuristics, or data transformation testing.
• Familiarity with financial or analytical product testing.
• Ability to configure, execute and review automated testing systems.
• Coaching or mentoring in quality methods or modeling.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

• Detail-oriented with a strong sense of user impact.
• Comfortable speaking to discovered risks and coverage decisions.
• Growth mindset, with interest in developing modeling and test design skills.
• Able to prioritize test efforts in fast-paced environments.
• Demonstrates strong written and verbal communication with cross-functional teams.
