Job description

At Carbon, our mission goes beyond 3D printing. We are enabling creators everywhere to make what the world needs, right now. Our company is built on the idea that diverse fields of study must come together to solve intractable problems. We have grand ambitions to create technology that will influence industry around the world. You will be joining a diverse team with a vibrant culture, where team success is as important as celebrating individual contributions.

Help us change the world and we will help you change yours.

Behind every reliable release, healthy on-call rotation, and smoothly onboarded engineer is a set of processes that quietly keep Software running. This role owns those processes. You will be the connective tissue across the Software organization: shepherding releases, managing rotations, keeping tool access and vendor relationships in good shape, and making sure day-to-day operational work does not fall through the cracks.

You will be joining a close-knit Software organization that ships the platform behind Carbon's 3D printing fleet. You will work alongside engineers, engineering managers, support, and finance partners, and you will report to the Head of Software.

This is a coordinator role, not a program management roleYou will own outcomes for the operational surface area that keeps the team productive, and you will have standing authority to act on the routine work so the role never becomes a bottleneck.

You will:
  • Run the software release process end to end, coordinating across engineering while letting the technical calls stay with the engineers who own them.
  • Manage on-call rotations and other recurring assignments, including swaps, coverage gaps, and fair distribution.
  • Own account and access management across SaaS tools, internal systems, and cloud IAM, including provisioning for new hires and clean deprovisioning for departures.
  • Own vendor and third-party relationships, including renewals of existing SaaS subscriptions and maintaining escalation contacts.
  • Triage incoming support tickets, resolve what can be handled at the operations level, and act as the liaison between Support and Engineering for everything that needs deeper judgment.

As the role grows, take on onboarding and offboarding logistics, license and seat tracking, cloud cost stewardship, access reviews, internal tools administration (Jira, GitHub, Slack), runbook upkeep, incident coordination, procurement liaison, and team health reporting.

You have:
  • Five or more years of experience in a software operations, technical program coordination, IT operations, developer experience, or similar role supporting an engineering team.
  • A strong sense of ownership. You track things to done, close loops without being asked, and are comfortable being the person people come to when they do not know who else to ask.
  • Clear written and verbal communication. Much of this role is written coordination across engineers, support, vendors, and finance.
  • Comfort with the tools of a modern software organization: Jira or a similar tracker, GitHub, Slack, SaaS admin consoles, cloud IAM basics, and on-call schedulers like PagerDuty.
  • Good judgment about when to act on your standing authority and when to elevate.
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
Nice to have:
  • Experience coordinating software releases or on-call rotations.
  • Familiarity with SOC 2 or similar access review and compliance processes.
  • Exposure to cloud cost reporting or vendor procurement workflows.

You do not need to match every listed expectation to apply for this position. Here at Carbon, we know that diverse perspectives foster the innovation we need to be successful, and we are committed to building a team that encompasses a variety of backgrounds, experiences, and skills.

At Carbon, we look at the person holistically and carefully consider a wide range of factors when determining salary. The compensation bracket for this position is $137,600 - $206,400 (per year). In order to maintain equitable internal pay practices, we aim to hire new employees near the midpoint of $172,000, taking into account your experience, work location, certifications, and the unique skills you bring to the role. If you are not based in our Sunnyvale or Santa Clara office, the range above will be adjusted for the geographical differential associated with your actual work location.
