Essential systems Inc is seeking an experienced software engineer to lead the design, integration, and development of Access Control, Intrusion Detection, and Video Surveillance in nuclear plant environments. This role emphasizes software/hardware integration for on-prem systems without internet access.

Applicants should have 10+ years designing complex systems, strong C/C++/Go and scripting skills, and deep knowledge of Linux/Windows networks. Travel to client sites may be required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Electrical, Software, Systems or related).
• 10+ years of experience designing and integrating systems.
• Experience in multiple languages: C, C++, Go, shell scripting.
• Linux and Windows operating systems knowledge.
• Strong networking knowledge (IPv4, VLAN, TCP/IP, subnets).
• Proficient in MS Word/Excel and CAD tools; capable with hardware/software platforms.
• Understanding of wiring diagrams and project management skills.
• Ability to manage projects in sensitive environments.

Responsibilities

• Provide hands-on technical leadership across system architecture, integration, and development oversight for nuclear plant physical protection systems.
• Design and integrate software/hardware for on-prem, closed security systems with redundant networks.
• Ensure regulatory compliance (10 CFR 73) and high reliability for long-term operability.
• Integrate hardware, software, sensors, actuators, and HMIs into cohesive solutions.
• Provide direction to vendors, integrators, and internal teams; maintain system documentation.
• Support FAT/SAT, installation oversight, and system commissioning; handle upgrades and obsolescence.
