Westinghouse Electric Company LLC in Warrendale, PA is seeking a senior technical leader for the I&C Safety Systems Software Tools and Automation Organization to establish, maintain, and improve governance for safety-critical software and digital I&C systems.

The role focuses on regulatory compliance, lifecycle governance, documentation, workforce qualification, audits, and training programs, interfacing with engineers, licensing, and project teams to ensure adherence to standards and customer

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Systems Engineering, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Nuclear Engineering, Computer Science, or related technical discipline.
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in engineering, software development, systems engineering, quality assurance, licensing, compliance, training, or related activities.
  • Strong experience developing, implementing, or maintaining technical procedures, engineering processes, standards, governance programs, or quality systems.
  • Experience in regulated industries such as nuclear power, aerospace, defense, medical devices, transportation, industrial automation, or similar safety-related environments.
  • Experience maintaining technical documentation including plans, procedures, specifications, reports, work instructions, or compliance records.
  • Strong understanding of requirements management, configuration management, traceability, verification, validation, QA, and lifecycle processes.
  • Experience supporting workforce qualification, training compliance, competency development, or technical training programs.
  • Ability to produce clear, concise, technically accurate documentation.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, maintain, and improve software lifecycle procedures, work instructions, standards, policies, and governance documents.
  • Translate regulatory requirements and industry standards into practical engineering processes and guidance.
  • Maintain mappings between regulatory requirements, internal procedures, and project plans.
  • Support compliance with software quality assurance, configuration management, verification, validation, cybersecurity, and traceability requirements.
  • Provide guidance to project teams regarding procedures, documentation expectations, and software quality requirements.
  • Support creation and maintenance of lifecycle documents (plans, QA plans, CM plans, safety plans, documentation plans).
  • Review engineering documentation for compliance with procedures, quality requirements, regulatory commitments, and project expectations.
  • Support requirements management and traceability across lifecycle artifacts.
  • Develop and improve Safety Software training programs, onboarding curricula, qualification requirements, and role-based learning paths.
  • Review training materials for accuracy, completeness, process compliance.
  • Monitor training compliance, qualification status, and curriculum effectiveness.
  • Identify training gaps and develop new content with SMEs.
  • Establish software engineering competency models and qualification requirements.
  • Support onboarding activities with required training.
  • Participate in internal and customer audits and regulatory inspections.
  • Identify gaps and opportunities to improve processes, procedures, and training.
  • Collaborate with software tools and automation teams to improve documentation, traceability, training administration, and compliance reporting.
  • Provide mentoring on software lifecycle processes, regulatory compliance, and engineering best practices.
