Job summary

Experience Champaign Urbana is seeking Senior Software Engineers to join the Engineering team. The role is location-flexible and full-time, with responsibilities spanning collaboration with hardware/FPGA teams to bring up designs and develop embedded solutions for audio, video, compression and networking.

Some GUI interfacing may be required. Required BS in CS or EE (MS considered equivalent to 2 years), 5+ years in software development, fluency in C/C++, multitasking, and embedded Linux tools

Qualifications

• BS in Computer Science or Electrical Engineering (or equivalent).
• 5+ years in software development; MS or advanced degree may substitute for 2 years.
• Fluent in C/C++ and multi-threaded programming.
• Experience with embedded Linux (Buildroot, CMake, bash, git).
• Low-level programming experience, Linux kernel drivers.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Senior Software Engineers

Roles and Responsibilities

• Work with hardware and FPGA engineers to bring up new designs.
• Develop embedded solutions that include audio, video, compression, and networking as needed.
• Some minor GUI design and interfacing as needed.

Qualifications and Requirements

• B.S. in Computer Science or equivalent, or B.S. in Electrical Engineering plus coding expertise.
• At least 5 years of experience in software development; an M.S. or other advanced degree can be considered equivalent to 2 years of experience.
• Fluent in C/C++ and multi-threaded programming.
• Experience in development for embedded Linux environments, including Buildroot, CMake, bash scripting, and git.
• Experience in low-level programming, including Linux kernel device drivers.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Desired, not Required:

• UI/Ux experience, full-stack web development from understanding and interfacing c/c++ all the way to HTML-5, JavaScript and css.

Additional Information

The ideal candidate will have previous experience with writing IP networking code at the user level, a good understanding of streaming protocols, and some knowledge of digital audio and video, both baseband and compressed. Cobalt Digital has offices in Champaign, IL; Santa Clara, CA; and Orange County, CA. Preference will be given to candidates in one of these locations, or candidates willing to relocate.
