Job summary

Google LLC in San Jose, CA, is seeking a Software Engineer Manager II focused on Privacy, Safety, and Security. You will lead a team of engineers, define technical strategy, and drive security-by-design initiatives across major projects.

You’ll mentor engineers, manage delivery of large-scale distributed systems, and partner with cross-functional teams to advance privacy, safety, and regulatory compliance while delivering high-impact software.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience.
• 8 years of experience in software development.
• 3 years of experience in a technical leadership role.
• 2 years of experience in a people management or team leadership role.
• Experience building developer platforms, automated code-fixing or CI/CD pipelines, distributed backend services.

Responsibilities

• Design systems, write and review code, improve multi-agent pipelines and verification sandboxes.
• Manage, mentor, and grow a team of software engineers and tech leads, keeping the team focused on solving Privacy, Safety, Security, and compliance problems.
• Drive multi-quarter strategy with partner teams across Privacy, Safety, Security, and Compliance.
