Base pay range

$198,600.00/yr - $282,900.00/yr

Who You’ll Work With

You will join a newly formed, dynamic AI team as one of the core members, and have the opportunity to influence the culture and direction of the growing team. Our team includes AI experts and distributed system experts who work together with our partners in products management, and engineers across a wide variety of other Cisco teams.

What you will do:

As a Software Engineering Manager, you will be responsible for leading the team that develops common services for our AI Assistant platform. You will collaborate with senior back-end engineers, UI engineers, product managers and SRE engineers to architect, design, and maintain software that powers the AI Assistant platform. Our platform provides building blocks for the various Cisco AI Assistants that offer Gen AI capabilities to customers.

As a Software Engineering Manager you will:

• Collaborate with engineering and other stakeholders to deliver platform capabilities
• Drive Architecture discussions and bring technical alignment with different teams
• Drive platform adoption, define relevant metrics and monitor KPIs
• Be on the lookout for the latest advancements in the field of AI/ML and bring in relevant advancements
• Mentor engineers and encourage the professional growth of everyone on the team.
• Partner with Product Management and Product Engineering teams.
• Be responsible for growing the team, retaining talent, and providing technical direction and career development opportunities.
• Foster a culture of quality, teamwork, and inclusiveness.
  
  

You are an ideal candidate if you have:

• 7+ years of software engineering experience
• 3+ years of leadership experience on projects involving meaningful planning and coordination
• Strong knowledge and hands-on experience in building distributed backend systems
• Hands-on experience in one or more of the programming languages like Go, Python etc
• Can implement efficient database design in a relational database
• The ability to work and collaborate across multiple teams
  
  

Bonus points for:

• Experience working in an agile environment (Scrum, Kanban, etc.).
• Have working knowledge of AI Assistants and AI Agent frameworks
• Experience working with third party vendors and contractors
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines, GitLab, and Jenkins
