Job summary

Capital One is seeking a Senior Manager, Software Engineering to lead a portfolio of diverse technology projects and a team of developers. The role emphasizes distributed microservices, full stack systems, and cloud-based delivery to foster financial empowerment for millions of users.

You will mentor engineers, explore new technologies, and collaborate with product managers to deliver robust, scalable solutions using JavaScript, Java, TypeScript, SQL, Python, Go, and AWS tools.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in a relevant field.
• At least 6 years of software engineering experience (Internship experience does not apply).
• At least 1 year experience with cloud computing (AWS, Microsoft Azure, Google Cloud).
• At least 4 years of people management experience.
• 9+ years of experience in JavaScript, Java, TypeScript, SQL, Python, or Go.
• 3+ years of experience with AWS, GCP, Microsoft Azure, or another cloud service.
• 4+ years of experience in open source frameworks.
• 7+ years of people management experience.
• 2+ years of experience in Agile practices.

Responsibilities

• Lead a portfolio of diverse technology projects and a team of developers with deep experience in distributed microservices and full stack systems.
• Mentor other engineers, stay current with tech trends, and occasionally review or write code.
• Collaborate with digital product managers to deliver cloud-based solutions that empower millions of Americans.
