Job summary

Justworks is seeking a Senior Software Engineer for Workforce Payments in New York City. You will work on the core computation layer powering payroll, money movement, and tax calculations, ensuring our customers can pay their workforce accurately and reliably.

You will lead technical decision‑making, own large projects end‑to‑end, mentor teammates, and partner with product managers and designers to scale the platform, improve data integrity, and deliver robust payroll interfaces.

Qualifications

• Minimum 7 years of professional hands-on engineering experience.
• Strong proficiency in SQL and modern server-side languages (Golang preferred).
• Experience mentoring engineers and leading cross-functional teams.
• Familiarity with cloud infrastructure management, preferably AWS.

Responsibilities

• Own large-scoped projects from discovery through launch with outcomes and customer impact.
• Collaborate with a cross-functional team to solve customer challenges.
• Improve the performance, reliability, and scalability of existing systems.
