Job summary

Western Governors University is seeking a Software Engineer II to join the Web Platform Team in Salt Lake City, focusing on platform architecture, tooling, and scalable front-end solutions in an Angular-based environment.

You will work with architects, DevOps, and platform engineers to improve workflows, standards, and reliability while supporting mission-driven student success.

Qualifications

  • 3+ years of professional software engineering experience.
  • Strong experience with Angular and TypeScript.
  • Experience building and maintaining reusable component libraries, shared services, or front-end frameworks.
  • Experience with HTML5, CSS3, SCSS, and responsive web design.
  • Experience working with Git-based source control systems and collaborative development workflows.
  • Experience developing and maintaining CI/CD pipelines.
  • Familiarity with cloud-native development and deployment practices.
  • Understanding of software architecture principles, modular design, and scalable application development.

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and maintain shared front-end libraries, tooling, and platform services used across multiple engineering teams.
  • Build and support enterprise-scale Angular applications and reusable UI components.
  • Contribute to the architecture and maintenance of Nx monorepos and shared codebases.
  • Improve developer experience through automation, tooling, documentation, and engineering best practices.
  • Develop and maintain CI/CD pipelines using GitHub Actions and related DevOps tooling.
  • Support deployment and release processes using Octopus Deploy and ArgoCD.
  • Establish and promote front-end standards for code quality, testing, accessibility, performance, and maintainability.
  • Collaborate with application teams to identify platform needs and reduce development friction.
  • Participate in code reviews and contribute to engineering standards and architecture discussions.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues involving build systems, deployment pipelines, development tooling, and platform infrastructure.
