Job summary

Constellation Technologies is seeking a senior software engineer in Maryland to design, develop, test, and deploy robust software systems across the lifecycle. You will lead teams, implement algorithms, and ensure integration with containerized environments and CI/CD pipelines.

The role requires an active TS/SCI clearance, a Computer Science degree (or equivalent experience), and extensive hands-on experience with Java, Python, and modern development tools.

Qualifications

• US citizenship is required.
• Active TS/SCI clearance with active polygraph.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related discipline; four years of additional SWE experience may substitute for degree.
• Experience across software lifecycle stages from conception to decommissioning.
• Twenty years of experience as a software engineer for senior level.
• Experience with Java SE and Python development; Git, Maven, JavaScript/HTML5/CSS3, JUnit, and IDEs.
• Software architecture, requirements analysis, and software development processes.
• Containerization and orchestration with Docker/Kubernetes/OpenShift; CI/CD with GitLab CI; automated testing with SonarQube; Kubernetes deployments.
• Experience with agile development delivering features every sprint.
• Familiarity with Spring Framework, Spring Tool Suite, Grit, Jenkins, Hibernate, MySQL, Web Services, and Vaadin or Google Web Toolkit.

Responsibilities

• Analyze user requirements to derive software design and performance requirements.
• Debug existing software and correct defects.
• Recommend improvements to documentation and development processes.
• Design and code new software or modify existing software to add features.
• Integrate software into new or modified environments.
• Develop queries for databases or data repositories.
• Write or review software and system documentation.
• Lead software development teams per the project process.
• Design complex data interfaces/queries.
• Develop algorithms to meet performance and functional standards.
• Assist with testing procedures for software components.
• Analyze system performance and user needs to guide solutions.
• Modify software to adapt to new hardware or improve performance.
• Design and implement algorithms with timing/resource constraints.
• Ensure documentation and process improvements are implemented.
• Oversee one or more development teams and ensure project constraints.
• Coordinate with system/hardware engineers to derive requirements and capabilities.
• Coordinate software installation and monitor operation to meet specs.
