Bloomerang is seeking a senior software engineer to own technical outcomes, drive code quality, and shape product delivery for a fully remote position in the U.S. You will mentor engineers, champion AI-driven engineering, and partner with staff engineers on cross-team initiatives.

You'll lead design decisions, balance speed and long-term health, and help scale a platform used by nonprofits. The role emphasizes reliability, observability, and pragmatic architecture.

Qualifications

• Hands-on engineer with production software experience.
• Deep proficiency in TypeScript and JavaScript across the stack—Node.js + Express and React.
• Strong relational data modeling and SQL (PostgreSQL), REST API design, asynchronous programming, testing, and observability.
• Experience modernizing legacy systems while a live product runs.
• Comfort building integrations and data sync with correctness and idempotency.
• Pragmatic architectural decisions balancing scalability, reliability, and delivery speed.
• Nice to have: Java, AngularJS, Sequelize, AWS, CRM platforms.

Responsibilities

• Own the team's technical outcomes with high standards for quality, reliability, and security.
• Lead technical direction and design within your team's domain.
• Translate product problems into pragmatic technical solutions and drive features to delivery.
• Partner with Staff Engineers and architects on cross-team implications.
• Mentor engineers, provide feedback, and foster growth.
• Champion AI-driven engineering and automation; use Claude Code and other tools daily.
• Experiment, measure, and turn successful practices into repeatable workflows.
• Balance delivery with long-term technical health; address debt and risks.
• Diagnose and resolve complex problems with deep debugging and observability.
• Own quality end-to-end with automated testing and continuous feedback.
