Senior Software Engineer, Systematics (Remote-Eligible)

Position Overview

We are seeking a Senior Software Engineer (Mainframe, Systematics) to lead our team. Our engineers come from systems, Mainframe, and software engineering backgrounds. This role is crucial for building reliable, scalable, and measurable customer experiences, ensuring the growth of Capital One’s key services.

Responsibilities

1. Guide software engineers on the systematics team in defining, designing, constructing, integrating, testing, and supporting reliable and reusable software solutions.
2. Conduct systems analysis, create specifications, code, test, and implement application programs and data interfaces.
3. Develop complex applications using GN/IM/RM/MA experience within an Agile environment.
4. Apply domain knowledge with FIS/Systematics applications.
5. Lead large-scale application integration efforts.
6. Influence multiple levels on highly technical issues.
7. Ensure application designs align with attributes like scalability, availability, maintainability, and flexibility.

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s Degree
• Minimum 3 years of software engineering experience (internship experience not included)

Preferred Qualifications:

• Master's Degree
• Experience with COBOL, JCL, VSAM on IBM mainframe
• Experience with ad hoc reporting tools like Easytrieve or DYL
• Knowledge of mainframe utilities such as SORT, IDCAMS
• Over 3 years developing batch and CICS applications
• Experience with database management systems, SQL, or automated testing
