Job summary

Workday is seeking a Senior Software Development Engineer to design and build core runtime capabilities for policy-governed agent execution. You will own key areas across sandbox execution, sidecar interfaces, enforcement flows, and production reliability.

In this role you will mentor engineers, participate in architecture reviews, and partner with cross-functional teams to integrate data prep, context assembly, tool gating, and model mediation.

Qualifications

• 5+ years experience in software development, including design and deployment.
• 8+ years in software development, architecting and scaling systems.
• 6+ years building backend or platform systems.
• Strong experience with distributed systems, APIs, and SOA.
• Proficiency in Java, Go, Rust, or Python.
• Experience operating production services with reliability and observability.
• Demonstrated ownership of complex technical projects and cross-functional collaboration.

Responsibilities

• Design and build core runtime services for secure, isolated agent execution.
• Implement policy-aware data, context, tool, and model access pathways.
• Define interfaces between runtime components and partner systems.
• Improve performance, scalability, and resilience for high-concurrency workloads.
• Develop telemetry and logging for traceability and operations.
• Collaborate with senior engineers to deliver roadmap items.
