Job summary

Superluminal Medicines is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to design and build software systems powering how experimental data moves through our platform. You will own critical systems at the intersection of software, scientific data, and research operations, solving complex integration challenges alongside scientists.

The role demands architectural leadership, high‑quality software, and hands-on development to enable scalable, observable workflows across cloud services and internal tools.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Software Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field.
• 5+ years of professional software engineering experience building and operating production systems.
• 3+ years of Python experience designing maintainable and well-tested software.
• Experience building systems that integrate data across APIs, databases, files, asynchronous processes, and third-party platforms.
• Experience with containers and modern deployment patterns using Docker and Kubernetes.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and operate production software systems supporting scientific data and wet lab workflows.
• Own architecture and implementation of systems for compound registration, data ingestion, validation, transformation, and publishing.
• Build reliable integrations across internal applications, APIs, cloud services, databases, and third-party platforms.
• Develop backend services, data pipelines, and internal applications used by scientists and research teams.
• Design observable, testable, resilient systems as data volumes scale.
• Collaborate with scientists to translate workflows into robust technical solutions.
• Improve data quality and system reliability through validation, testing, monitoring, and defined interfaces.
• Establish strong engineering practices around code quality, CI/CD, deployment, documentation, and ownership.
