Job summary

GRAIL is seeking a Senior/Staff Software Engineer to design, build, and operate the laboratory software platform that enables scalable, reliable cancer detection workflows. You will work across backend services, LIMS integration, and lab visibility tools to ensure high availability and compliance while collaborating with scientists and automation engineers.

Qualifications

• Strong software engineering fundamentals for distributed systems.
• Experience building production software in Python or Go.
• Frontend experience with React/TypeScript.
• Cloud-native development on AWS.
• APIs using REST or gRPC; distributed services.
• Kubernetes deployment and modern observability practices.
• Strong communication and cross-functional collaboration.
• Ability to own incidents and on-call responsibilities.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and operate software systems powering GRAIL laboratories.
• Collaborate across laboratory workflows, LIMS, quality systems, and visibility tools.
• Ensure reliability, scalability, and regulatory compliance in production.
• Build resilient distributed systems interacting with lab equipment and data.
