Job summary

Justjoin is seeking a Senior Software Engineer (Python or Rust) to join a US-based trading technology company building an internal algorithmic trading system for stocks, options, and futures. You’ll design, deploy, and maintain production-grade systems with unattended operation, robust error handling, and monitoring.

You will own architecture decisions, work in a fully remote team, and collaborate with the owner to drive priorities while ensuring rapid incident response and scalable data

Qualifications

• 5+ years of senior software development experience.
• Hands-on experience with trading or market data (stocks, options, futures, crypto, or prediction markets).
• Strong experience with real-time data processing.
• Experience building production systems in Python or Rust.
• Track record of reliable, unattended systems with good error handling and monitoring.
• Ability to make architectural/tech decisions independently.
• Ownership and self-direction in a small, fully remote team.
• Readiness to handle urgent production issues.

Responsibilities

• Design and build the internal algorithmic trading system for stocks, options and futures via Interactive Brokers.
• Ensure the trading system runs reliably unattended with strong error handling, monitoring and recovery.
• Extend the system into prediction markets and 24-hour digital asset trading.
• Convert raw trading/market data into clear visual signals for customers.
• Develop internal automations for business operations and access control.
• Build Discord bots and automations to revoke access for non-paying customers on time.
• Collaborate with the owner to decide architecture, tech choices and priorities.
• Take end-to-end ownership from architecture to deployment and incident response.
• Work with a small non-engineering team to automate sales and community workflows.

Requirements

• 5+ senior-level professional software development experience
• Hands-on experience working with trading or market data (stocks, options, futures, crypto, or prediction markets)
• Strong experience with real-time data processing
• Experience building production systems in Python or Rust
• Track record of building reliable, unattended systems with robust error handling, monitoring, and failure recovery
• Ability to make architectural and technology decisions independently
• Demonstrated ownership and self-direction in a small, fully remote team
• Readiness to take responsibility for urgent production issues when they arise
• Excellent English communication skills

Nice to Have

• Experience building Discord bots
• Experience with NautilusTrader or a similar algorithmic trading engine
• Experience with the Interactive Brokers API or other broker integrations
• Experience with payment, subscription, or commission tooling (refunds, chargebacks, access control)
