Morgan Stanley's Parametric unit seeks a Senior Research Software Engineer to modernize applications and build new ones within a hybrid model. You will work with the Quantitative Development team on portfolio modeling, testing, and secure coding practices while collaborating with business and technical stakeholders.

Apply your expertise in cloud-native design, Python and OO languages, Kafka, Docker, Terraform, and AWS services to deliver scalable solutions in a fast-paced financial services

Competenze

• 5+ years of experience developing cloud-native applications.
• Proficiency in Python and at least one OO language (C#/Java).
• Experience with AWS services like ECS, S3, Batch, EC2.
• Experience with Kafka and Docker.
• Familiarity with Terraform and Git or SVN.
• Experience in agile development and CI/build tools.
• NoSQL experience (DynamoDB, MongoDB).
• Strong communication with business users and developers.
• Knowledge of AI technologies and their business/technical uses.

This role is part of Parametric's hybrid working model, which includes working in the office 3 days a week and choosing to work remotely or in the office the remaining days of the week.

ABOUT THE TEAM

The Quantitative Development team supports Portfolio Management, Strategy and Research with equity models and tools to guide our investment process. This includes portfolio construction, backtesting, transition analysis and other analytical tools.

As part of the Quantitative Development team, the Senior Research Software Engineer will be responsible for modernizing existing applications, building new applications and ensuring compliance with SDLC requirements.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Work closely with the business unit and other team members to understand and document requirements
• Design and develop integration solutions with 3rd party data providers and systems
• Share experience, knowledge, and ideas to the team to improve processes and productivity
• Create unit/integration/functional tests
• Follow our development process and guidelines
• Conduct code reviews of other developers, merge-request reviews
• Follow technology trends/tools and recommend improvements to our technology when appropriate
• Act as the security expert for the development team by advocating for secure coding practices and implementing security related features
• Responsible for researching and implementing software development initiatives that are cross functional and may be passed off to other groups later

JOB REQUIREMENTS

• 5+ years of experience developing cloud native applications
• Python design and development experience is a plus
• Experience with object-oriented coding languages such as C# or Java
• Ability to work well in a highly social and collaborative environment
• Strong knowledge of various AWS cloud services like ECS, S3, Batch, EC2
• In depth experience with various message streaming technologies like Kafka
• Solid understanding of Docker containerization
• IaaS familiarity, working knowledge of Terraform
• Familiarity with version control systems such as GIT or SVN
• Working experience with agile development
• Familiarity with continuous integration and build tools
• Working knowledge of NoSQL databases like DynamoDB, MongoDB etc.
• Proven track record of becoming a subject matter expert in areas related to current assignments
• Effective communication skills with business users and other developers
• Familiarity with AI and related technologies, with the ability to apply them in a business or technical context

Salary range for the position: $78,000 - 185,000/Yr. The successful candidate may be eligible for an annual discretionary incentive compensation award. The successful candidate may be eligible to participate in the relevant business unit's incentive compensation plan, which also may include a discretionary bonus component.
