Job summary

Topstep is seeking a Senior Software Engineer for its TRM Engineering team. You will own end-to-end features for trader-facing web experiences, onboarding, payments, and internal tooling, primarily using TypeScript on Node.js and React.

The role emphasizes reliability, security, and scalable systems on AWS, with ownership from design to production. You will drive architecture with senior engineers, implement automated tests and observability, and contribute to coding standards while

Qualifications

• 5+ years building and operating production-grade, user-facing APIs.
• Strong full-stack: TS/Node.js backend and React/Next.js frontend.
• Experience with distributed systems, messaging, and concurrency.
• DB fundamentals with PostgreSQL or SQL Server, indexing and migrations.
• Production mindset with metrics, logging, and on-call ownership.
• Excellent communication with product, design, and QA.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and operate full stack features end to end with reliability and simple deployments.
• Collaborate with Product and Design during discovery to shape scope and estimates.
• Write technical designs and guide architecture with senior engineers.
• Incorporate automated testing, observability, and ownership into delivery.
• Raise engineering standards through code review and patterns.
• Identify and resolve cross-stack issues; keep systems stable and scalable.
• Participate in on-call rotation and post-incident fixes.
• Leverage AI development tools under Topstep's standards.
