Job summary

TENEX is hiring a Senior Software Engineer in the San Jose area. You will own major backend and frontend initiatives, building scalable, secure systems and leading technical directions. The role blends individual contribution with technical guidance, touching AI/ML concepts and distributed systems.

You’ll collaborate with product and design teams, define architecture, and ship features end-to-end. Remote-first flexibility is limited; strong candidates are prepared for on-site work in the US.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
• 5+ years of professional software engineering experience.
• Strong backend experience with Go or Python.
• Frontend experience with React/Next.js/TypeScript.
• Relational databases: PostgreSQL or MySQL.
• Cloud platforms: GCP or AWS.
• Experience with containers (Docker) and orchestration (Kubernetes).
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines.
• Exposure to AI/ML concepts and technologies is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and deploy scalable backend services and APIs.
• Build and maintain intuitive frontend applications.
• Own projects end-to-end from architecture to deployment and monitoring.
• Collaborate with product, design, and other engineers to implement features.
• Write clean, maintainable, and testable code.
• Participate in design and code reviews to raise engineering quality.
• Troubleshoot complex issues and ensure system reliability.
• Contribute to improving engineering processes and tools.
• Stay current with emerging technologies and bring new ideas to the team.
