Job summary

Michigan Medicine's Department of Radiation Oncology is seeking an experienced software engineer to build and maintain clinical applications that support safe and effective radiation therapy. You will work with a multidisciplinary team across treatment planning, medical imaging, quality assurance, and clinical workflow automation to improve patient care.

Qualifications

• Five or more years of professional software engineering, systems analysis, or enterprise application development experience.
• Strong proficiency in Java and Spring/Spring Boot or C# and WPF.
• Experience with relational databases, SQL, APIs, or systems integration.
• Ability to create clear software requirements, design documentation, test plans, and installation guides.
• Ability to work independently and with multidisciplinary teams.

Responsibilities

• Participate in the full software development lifecycle from requirements to deployment and maintenance.
• Design, develop, and maintain enterprise apps using Java, Spring Boot, and related technologies.
• Develop modern web interfaces with JavaScript/TypeScript frameworks like Angular or React.
• Build secure REST APIs and backend services for radiation therapy workflows.
• Collaborate with clinical staff to translate requirements into software solutions.
• Modernize legacy systems while maintaining clinical functionality and data integrity.
• Apply design patterns, SOLID, automated testing, and CI/CD practices.
