Infleqtion is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to lead the development and productization of software interfacing with quantum hardware. You will drive full-stack development, own frontend in React/Next.js, and manage a Python (FastAPI) backend tied to hardware control.

You’ll guide software teams, enforce best practices, and collaborate across disciplines to move projects from prototype to production-ready systems.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or equivalent experience.
• 4+ years of professional software engineering experience.
• Expert-level proficiency in Python and JavaScript/TypeScript.
• Strong experience with React and Next.js frontend frameworks.
• Experience with FastAPI or similar modern Python web frameworks.
• Familiarity with embedded software concepts (device drivers, low-level APIs).
• Demonstrated experience leading software development teams or acting as a tech lead.
• Deep understanding of modern development workflows (Git, Jira, CI/CD pipelines, automated testing).

Responsibilities

• Lead and coordinate global software development efforts for quantum sensing products.
• Serve as technical lead for the software team, guiding daily operations and priorities.
• Plan and execute development milestones with PMs and technical leads.
• Lead daily stand-ups, manage the Jira board, and ensure sprint goals are met.
• Oversee software engineering best practices, including code reviews, testing, docs, CI/CD.
• Interface between software team and multidisciplinary project teams.
• Develop frontend in React/Next.js for performance, maintainability, and scale.
• Own backend REST API in Python (FastAPI) with hardware control integrations.
• Contribute to Rust middleware/driver integration for device control.
• Collaborate with embedded engineers to ensure hardware/software cohesion.
• Participate in architecture discussions and document technical designs.
• Support transition from prototype to production-ready systems.

We are seeking a Senior Software Engineer to lead the development and productization of our software systems that interface with cutting-edge quantum and embedded hardware. This role focuses on full-stack software engineering, team leadership, and the establishment of strong software engineering practices.

While a physics background is not required, familiarity with physical systems or scientific instrumentation will be helpful. The ideal candidate is a software engineer first, with strong embedded systems awareness and proven leadership in modern software development environments.

Role and responsibilities

• Leadership & Coordination of global software development efforts for quantum sensing products

• Serve as technical lead for the software engineering team, guiding day-to-day operations and development priorities.

• Collaborate with project managers and technical leads to plan and execute development milestones.

• Lead daily stand-up meetings, manage the Jira board, and ensure timely completion of sprint goals.

• Oversee and enforce software engineering best practices, including code reviews, testing standards, documentation, and CI/CD processes.

• Act as the liaison between the software engineering team and the broader multidisciplinary project team.

• Software Development

• Lead development of the frontend application built with React/Next.js, ensuring high performance, maintainability, and scalability.

• Own the backend REST API written in Python (FastAPI), ensuring robust integration with hardware control and middleware layers.

• Contribute to integration with Rust-based middleware and/or driver software used for device control.

• Collaborate with embedded systems engineers to ensure seamless interaction between software and hardware components.

• Participate in architecture discussions and contribute to technical design documentation.

• Support the transition of projects from prototype to production-ready systems.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or equivalent experience.

• 4+ years of professional software engineering experience.

• Expert-level proficiency in Python and JavaScript/TypeScript.

• Strong experience with React and Next.js frontend frameworks.

• Demonstrated experience leading software development teams or acting as a technical lead.

• Deep understanding of modern development workflows (Git, Jira, CI/CD pipelines, automated testing).

Desired Qualifications

• Experience with Rust (especially in middleware or systems contexts).

• Exposure to or interest in scientific instrumentation, hardware control, or physics-related systems.

• Familiarity with Docker, Kubernetes, or other containerized deployment systems.

• Experience in startups or R&D-focused environments.

Working Conditions and Physical Requirements

Work will normally be performed in an office and laboratory environment and around technical equipment including computers and lasers. We ask that candidates be able to efficiently use automated office equipment such as laptops, copiers, and printers; able to effectively engage in communications (via phone, computer, or in-person). Any required Personal Protective Equipment will be provided and must be properly used in accordance with company requirements.

Travel

Up to 10% travel may be required.

The targeted salary range for this role is $160,000 to $185,000 on an annualized basis plus eligibility to participate in our annual incentive plan.
