Job summary

Ruxlo is a data-driven real estate platform and AI-assisted search engine. We are hiring a senior IC who will own automated testing from day one, shaping the tooling and standards across data pipelines, APIs, and the React/Next.js front end.

You will build the first automated coverage, set CI gates, and craft patterns that the engineering team adopts as we scale. A quality mindset and hands-on teaching across the stack are essential.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years as a software engineer with a fullstack mindset.
  • Strong coding ability in at least one of TypeScript/JavaScript, C#/.NET, or Python.
  • Experience integrating automated tests into CI/CD pipelines as reliable quality gates.
  • Hands-on experience building automated tests at unit, integration, and end-to-end levels.
  • Formal QA experience and a tester's instinct for cross-stack vetting.
  • Tests and infrastructure live in version control and are maintained as code.
  • Fluency with modern test tooling (Playwright, Cypress) and appropriate tool selection.

Responsibilities

  • Build the safety net from zero and establish automated coverage for critical flows.
  • Automate quality checks across data pipelines, APIs, backends, and frontend apps.
  • Design and validate AI-assisted search and generation features with automated evals.
  • Integrate tests as CI/CD release gates to catch regressions early.
  • Define testing scope and invest in AI-assisted, self-healing tooling.

Job description

About Ruxlo

Ruxlo is a data-driven real estate platform — map-based web and mobile, AI-assisted search, freemium — built by a small, high-pace, AI-native team. Today quality is manual and owned by everyone, which means no one. You'll be our first dedicated quality hire, here to make automated testing a first-class part of how we build.

This is a software engineer first, with a quality mindset — not a traditional QA seat. You automate your way out of manual QA: you'd rather build the harness that kills a class of bugs than click through the same flow twice. You also bring formal QA experience, so you know how to vet the full stack the way a tester does — integration → data → backend → frontend (web and mobile) → AI — and what actually needs verifying at each layer.

It's a build-from-zero, senior IC role. No test suite waits for you and no playbook to inherit — you'll set the first automated coverage, the CI gates, and the patterns the rest of engineering adopts. The standards you set early become how we test as the team scales.

What You'll Do

Build the safety net from zero. Establish our first meaningful automated coverage and testing patterns where little exists today — prioritizing the flows and risks that matter, not coverage for its own sake.

Automate every layer. Own quality as code across the platform: data-pipeline/ETL validation, API and service tests for our C#/.NET and Python backends, and end-to-end flows for the React/Next.js web app and mobile — all versioned, reviewed, and run like production code.

Test our AI features. Design evals and automated checks for AI-assisted search and agent-driven features — measuring quality, regressions, and cost on non-deterministic systems, not just pass/fail.

Wire quality into CI/CD. Integrate tests as automated release gates so regressions are caught before staging, with results that are fast, reliable, and trusted.

Focus on risk, not busywork. Decide what to test and why, then build the automation that enforces it. Lean on AI-assisted and self-healing tooling so the work stays about coverage strategy, not babysitting brittle scripts.

Set the standard. Make the build-vs-buy-vs-hire calls, and let the tooling and patterns you establish become the team's default.

Position Requirements

Engineering craft

  • 5+ years as a software engineer with a fullstack mindset — comfortable moving across the stack, not living in one layer.
  • Strong coding ability in at least one of TypeScript/JavaScript, C#/.NET, or Python, and productive in the others.
  • Experience integrating automated tests into CI/CD pipelines as reliable quality gates.

Quality expertise

  • Deep, hands-on experience building automated tests at every level — unit, integration, and end-to-end — not just running them.
  • Formal QA experience and a tester's instinct: you know how to vet a feature across the full stack (integration, data, backend, web/mobile) and what needs verifying at each layer.
  • A "QA as code" philosophy: tests and infrastructure live in version control, get code-reviewed, and are built for maintainability.
  • Fluency with modern test tooling (Playwright/Cypress-class E2E, API testing, mocking/fixtures) and a habit of picking the right tool per layer.

Ownership & AI-native

  • Able to own an area end-to-end with limited guidance and establish patterns from scratch.
  • AI-native by default: you use AI tools to multiply your output — and verify what they produce.

Preferred Skills

  • Founding-team or early-stage experience building a quality function from zero on a lean team.
  • Familiarity with agentic and AI-native testing tooling (e.g. Momentic, self-healing E2E frameworks).
  • Experience evaluating AI/LLM features — evals, golden datasets, or regression harnesses for non-deterministic systems.
  • Automated mobile testing (iOS/Android).
  • Data / ETL / pipeline testing and data-quality validation.
  • Performance, load, or security testing exposure.
  • Contract testing, observability, and using production signals to inform coverage.
  • Proptech, real estate, fintech, geospatial, or SaaS data-product experience.
