Job summary

Walmart is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to lead scalable software delivery and AI/ML integration across a multi-tenant, multi-market environment. You will design, implement, test, and maintain data pipelines and platform services using Scala, Spark, Python, and PySpark on GCP.

You will mentor peers, participate in design reviews, and ensure reliability with CI/CD, observability, and scalable deployments across global markets.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in CS, CE, or related field or equivalent experience.
• 5+ years of software engineering experience acceptable per options.
• Experience with scalable data pipelines and modern CI/CD practices.

Role summary:As a Senior Software Engineer, you will lead the delivery of scalable, secure software solutions by managing feature development, testing, and ongoing support within collaborative teams. This role requires expertise in multiple programming languages and a strong focus on continuous integration, automation, and AI/ML integration to enhance platform capabilities. You will contribute to technical design, code quality, and operational excellence while mentoring peers and driving innovation. Your work will align with broader business objectives, ensuring reliable, high-performance systems that meet evolving customer and stakeholder needs.About the team:The Search and Personalization team at Walmart focuses on understanding customer needs to create seamless, efficient shopping experiences across online and in-store channels. The team develops intelligent, personalized solutions by leveraging advanced machine learning, natural language processing, and knowledge representation. Comprising skilled engineers, data scientists, and product experts, the team addresses complex challenges at the intersection of Walmart’s extensive assortment, millions of customers, and thousands of stores. • Monitorapplicationperformanceusing Grafana,OpenObserve ,andplatformtelemetry;supportongoingreliabilityimprovementsincludingautoscalingoptimization,costefficiency,andSLAcomplianceacross9globalmarkets.

What you’ll bring:

• Extensiveexperienceinsoftwaredevelopmentwithproficiencyin Scala,Python,PySpark,andJava ,withhands-onexperiencebuildingdistributeddatapipelineson ApacheSpark.
• Strongexpertiseinobject-orientedandfunctionalprogramming,codereview,debugging,anddocumentation-basedcodingpractices.
• Provenabilitytodeliverscopedfeaturesandplatformcomponentsthroughiterativedevelopmentandcontinuousintegrationina multi-tenant,multi-market environment.
• Experiencewith bigdataecosystems -GCPDataproc,Airflow,Kafka,Cassandra,GCS,andcolumnarformatsandoptimizingforthroughput,latency,andcost.
• Experiencewith Kubernetes/WCNPdeployments ,CI/CD,andinfrastructure-as-codepractices.
• Effectivecollaborationandcommunicationskillstoengagecross-functionalteams-datascience,MLengineering,product,andplatformstakeholders.

The annual salary range for this position is $117,000.00 - $234,000.00 Additional compensation includes annual or quarterly performance bonuses. Additional compensation for certain positions may also include :

Minimum Qualifications

Option 1: Bachelor’s degree in computer science, computer engineering, computer information systems, software engineering, or related area and 3 years’ experience in software engineering or related area.
Option 2: 5 years’ experience in software engineering or related area.

Preferred Qualifications
