Senior Software Engineer - Platform as a Service

Description & Requirements

The Team:

Our team is building a Platform as a Service (PaaS) based on Kubernetes that allows Bloomberg engineering teams around the world to develop, deploy, and manage production services. We aim to create the default platform for Bloomberg’s use cases. BPaaS (Bloomberg-Platform-as-a-Service) is a multi-tenant system providing automation for deploying docker images to K8s and managing deployment lifecycles, including integration with various Bloomberg technologies.

We embrace Bloomberg's open source-first strategy and collaborate with service providers across solutions to deliver a seamless experience to Bloomberg developers. If you are passionate about system development, cloud-native applications, and container orchestration, this role is for you!

Responsibilities:

• Work on high-visibility projects supporting critical use cases with minimal supervision
• Build with cloud and container orchestration technologies (Docker/Kubernetes/OpenStack)
• Design and implement features following standard software development practices
• Collaborate with team members and other engineering teams to develop scalable, robust systems
• Proactively suggest and implement platform improvements
• Utilize various technologies to develop innovative solutions
• Stay informed about the latest software trends

Qualifications:

• 4+ years of programming experience with object-oriented languages
• A degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or related field, or equivalent work experience
• Ability to stay current with emerging technologies and trends
• Experience with Kubernetes and/or Docker

Preferred:

Salary Range: $160,000 - $240,000 USD annually, plus benefits and bonus.
