About the role

As part of our Ubuntu Engineering Server Team, you will maintain and package a wide variety of software, including webservers, databases, virtualization, and containerization stacks. You will collaborate proactively within a distributed team, evaluate contributions, and shape the future of Ubuntu through innovative ideas and community engagement.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate within a distributed team
• Maintain and optimize Ubuntu Server packages, including web servers, databases, network services, virtualization, containers, package management, and language runtimes
• Contribute to upstream projects and collaborate with community and commercial partners
• Evaluate contributions, ensure high-quality standards, and shape Ubuntu's future

Qualifications

• Passion for technology and open source
• Curious, flexible, articulate, and accountable
• Experience in packaging systems (deb, rpm, NixOS, or similar)
• Experience with containers and virtual machines
• Proficiency in languages such as C/C++, Python, Rust, Go, Ruby, PHP
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, STEM, or equivalent experience (5+ years)
