Job summary

EchoStar is seeking a Senior Software Engineer - Order Orchestration to design and implement distributed order management across e-commerce services. What Success Looks Like (Objectives)

The Senior Software Engineer - Order Orchestration designs and implements distributed order management subsystems across e-commerce services. The position addresses data coordination requirements across microservices by developing resilient orchestration workflows and integrating standard API security protocols. Operating within engineering teams, the role optimizes high-concurrency order processing, supports deployment pipelines, and maintains fault-tolerant purchasing components for high-volume transactions.

• Design and implement resilient order orchestration subsystems using AWS serverless technologies and containerized microservices to manage customer order lifecycles.
• Design scalable API specifications using OpenAPI and YAML standards while integrating authentication and authorization protocols across payment and logistics services.
• Support full API lifecycles and automated integration pipelines to advance departmental OKRs for service reliability and deployment throughput.
• Optimize database schemas, event-driven streaming architectures, and distributed caching mechanisms across order management subsystems.
• Implement Generative AI tools and LLM workflows to automate system troubleshooting, accelerate root-cause analysis, and optimize engineering efficiency.

Skills, Experience and Requirements

Core Skills and Competencies (What you’ll bring)

• Advanced proficiency in designing and implementing software subsystems utilizing Java, Spring Boot, Spring Cloud, and distributed microservices architectures.
• Applied competency in cloud infrastructure, AWS ecosystem services, and container orchestration platforms including Docker and Kubernetes.
• Practical experience with full-lifecycle API design, API gateway management, and integration standards using Apigee or SwaggerHub.
• Proven ability to resolve complex technical bottlenecks, coordinate across peer engineering groups, and maintain reliability in high-volume production services.
• Applied competency in modern AI and machine learning tools to enhance software engineering workflows and operational automation.

Additional Qualifications

• Experience applying test-driven development methodologies and operating within Agile delivery frameworks such as Scrum or Kanban.
• Practical knowledge of Python development alongside CI/CD automation pipelines utilizing GitLab.

Minimum Requirements

Minimum Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or a related field

Minimum Experience: 4 years of experience in the development and implementation of enterprise-wide software solutions

Required Technical Skills: Must have at least 4 years of experience with:

• Java Technologies (Java, J2EE, Web Services, Spring, Spring Boot)
• API development, lifecycle management, and integration (REST/JSON, OpenAPI, API Gateways)
• AWS cloud products, containerization (Docker/Kubernetes), and serverless workflow orchestration

Salary Ranges

Compensation: $96,250.00/Year - $137,500.00/Year
