Senior-Level Software EngineerThe Senior-Level Software Engineer is responsible for developing and supporting the individual components within an application and leading technical efforts within the team and department. The role includes coaching and mentoring junior engineers and conducting code reviews.
Job Duties and Responsibilities
- Development (45%): Review and analyze existing applications to improve effectiveness and efficiency. Design, build, and implement new web applications, pages, and sites. Integrate sites with back‑end services, migrate legacy applications to the web, and maintain the organization’s web portfolio. Collaborate with the team to prioritize front‑end backlog tasks and suggest software products and services for procurement and development.
- Communications (15%): Collaborate with developers, analysts, designers, and system owners to test new software. Work with product and scrum teams to ensure requirements are met on time. Communicate with middle managers across departments to set and meet expectations.
- Mentoring (15%): Coach less experienced developers and conduct code reviews aimed at improving the quality of the code, not just validating it.
- Architecture (15%): Design the architecture for smaller projects and work with the architecture team on larger projects to create robust, scalable solutions. Engage with architects to stay current with new technologies.
- Research and Risk Management (10%): Conduct research and recommend software products and services. Keep job knowledge up to date by studying new tools and techniques, reading professional publications, and participating in educational opportunities. Develop documentation, flowcharts, diagrams, charts, and code comments to demonstrate solutions.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma required; Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field preferred.
- 5‑7 years of Software Engineering experience.
- Proficiency with at least one object‑oriented language such as C#; familiarity with JavaScript frameworks (React, Node.js, Angular, Vue.js).
- Experience with Cloud Services (AWS, Azure, GCP) and web services (RESTful and/or SOAP).
- Experience with .NET Core MVC, Windows/Worker services, DevOps including CI/CD.
- Knowledge of SQL, NoSQL databases and relational database design.
- Strong understanding of the software development lifecycle (SDLC) and Agile concepts.
- Ability to create flow diagrams and develop reusable software components.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills, attentive to detail, and able to work independently or in a team.
- Customer‑service orientation and the ability to work with stakeholders to understand functional and non‑functional requirements.
