Job summary

Google LLC is seeking a Senior Software Engineer, Mobile (Android), XR, Platforms and Devices in San Jose, CA / Seattle, WA. This role focuses on building next-generation Android XR platforms and related tooling across Google’s platforms and devices.

You will work on complex systems at scale, require leadership, and contribute to cross-functional projects while exploring innovative immersive experiences for users globally.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience.
  • 5 years of experience programming in Java, Kotlin or C++.
  • 3 years of experience testing, maintaining, or launching software products, and 1 year of experience with software design and architecture.
  • 3 years of experience with Android application development.

Responsibilities

  • Write and test product or system development code.
  • Review code developed by other engineers and provide feedback to ensure best practices (e.g., style guidelines, testing, and efficiency).
  • Contribute to existing documentation or educational content and adapt content based on product updates and user feedback.
  • Triage product or system issues and debug/track/resolve by analyzing issues and impact on hardware, network, or service operations and quality.
  • Participate in, or lead design reviews with peers and stakeholders to decide amongst available technologies.

  • Paid Time Off: 20 days of vacation per year, accruing at a rate of 6.15 hours per pay period for the first five years of employment
  • Sick Time: 40 hours/year (increased to 69 hours/year for Seattle) including 5 discretionary sick days per instance
  • Maternity Leave (Short-Term Disability + Baby Bonding): 28-30 weeks
  • Baby Bonding Leave: 18 weeks
  • Holidays: 13 paid days per year
