D.R. Horton, Inc. is seeking a Sr Software Engineer - Mobile to drive cross‑platform mobile initiatives with a focus on React Native, TypeScript, and Expo. This role anchors mobile architecture and collaborates with web, backend, product, and marketing teams to deliver high‑quality iOS, Android, and web experiences.

You will mentor engineers, design scalable mobile systems, and help shape engineering standards while contributing to performance improvements and code reviews across the team.

Qualifications

• 3 years direct React Native experience required.
• Expertise in mobile application architecture, including navigation and offline storage strategies.
• Familiarity with Expo ecosystem (EAS, Expo Router, OTA updates) preferred.
• Proven ability to balance pragmatism with technical excellence and drive cross‑platform initiatives.
• Experience with mobile analytics, monitoring, and observability tools.

Responsibilities

The right candidate is an experienced individual contributor who operates with high autonomy and serves as a technical anchor for mobile development within the team. This role combines deep expertise in React Native and mobile architecture with the ability to drive cross-platform initiatives, ensuring high-quality delivery across iOS, Android, and shared web ecosystems.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Designs and implements complex features and systems with minimal guidance using React Native, Expo, and TypeScript
• Demonstrates expertise in mobile application architecture, including navigation, deep linking, state management, and offline storage strategies.
• Leverages modern tooling such as Expo, EAS, and CI/CD pipelines to streamline development, testing, and deployment.
• Make sound architectural decisions for team-level projects, considering scalability, maintainability, and performance.
• Leverage modern tools to streamline development, testing, and deployment
• Provide expert guidance in code reviews, ensuring high standards across the team
• Debug and resolve complex production issues efficiently
• Identify and resolve performance bottlenecks, technical debt, and production issues in mobile environments
• Write comprehensive design documents that enable informed decision-making
• Collaborate effectively with web, backend, product, and marketing teams to align mobile capabilities with broader platform goals
• Mentor engineers in React Native development, mobile architecture, and cross-platform best practices
• Identify and advocate for important technical investments and improvements
• Establish and advocate for engineering standards across mobile development, including testing, performance, and code quality
• Conduct all business in a professional and ethical manner to serve customers and increase the goodwill and profit of the company
• Ability to travel overnight

Qualifications

Education and/or Experience

• Expertise in mobile application architecture, including navigation, deep linking, state management, and offline storage strategies
• 3 years direct React Native experience required
• Experience with Expo ecosystem (EAS, Expo Router, OTA updates) preferred
• Skilled balancing pragmatism with technical excellence, making appropriate trade-offs
• Familiarity with mobile analytics, monitoring, and observability tools
• Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written and oral form or via DRH applications
• Ability to sit for majority of 8-hour workday; use hands and fingers to handle or feel; reach with hands and arms; talk and hear. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and peripheral vision
• The noise level is generally moderate

• Demonstrated mastery of multiple technologies and readily adapts to new technical challenges
• Experience with Expo ecosystem (EAS, Expo Router, OTA updates) preferred
