Job summary

Redhorse Corporation seeks a Senior Software Engineer – Mission Systems Integration to advance the development, integration, and modernization of tactical systems for defense and national security. You will bridge tactical-edge operations with enterprise platforms using TAK/CoT architectures to enhance real-time situational awareness.

Qualifications

• Active DoD Secret clearance with eligibility to obtain and maintain a TS/SCI clearance.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
• 7+ years of professional software engineering and systems integration experience.
• 3+ years of hands-on TAK/CoT ecosystem experience (TAK/ATAK/WinTAK/MILTAK).
• Proficiency in Java/Kotlin, C#/C++, Python.
• Experience with network protocols, real-time messaging (WebSockets, TCP/UDP, ZeroMQ, MQTT).
• Experience with Git/GitLab and Docker.
• Ability to travel up to 25%.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and integrate plugins, services, and middleware within the TAK ecosystem.
• Architect and implement CoT data schemas, translations, and routing between tactical devices and cloud systems.
• Configure, scale, deploy, and maintain TAK Server across on-prem, edge, and cloud environments.
• Build low-latency APIs and data pipelines to ingest multi-source feeds into situational awareness interfaces.
• Collaborate with engineering, PMs, and government stakeholders to translate mission requirements into solutions.
• Implement automated CI/CD pipelines and containerized deployments for edge-deployed software.
• Troubleshoot complex tactical network, protocol, and integration issues.
