Job summary

OpenAI is seeking a Senior Software Engineer on the Internationalization team in San Francisco to build the localization platform and global-ready product infrastructure. You will help deliver translated content, reviewer tooling, and scalable localization workflows across our products.

You will work at the intersection of AI systems, developer platforms, and product infrastructure, collaborating with product teams to improve international readiness and multilingual support.

Qualifications

• Strong software engineering experience building backend or full-stack systems.
• Familiarity with Java, React, MySQL, and cloud infrastructure patterns (object storage, containerized services, Kubernetes).
• Experience with open-source software and developer tooling is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Build and scale localization and internationalization platform components used across OpenAI products.
• Develop AI-powered translation pipelines with human-in-the-loop review workflows.
• Design systems to deliver localized content across web and mobile apps.
• Create tools for linguists and localization teams to review translations.
• Build developer tooling to simplify localization and internationalization workflows.
• Develop libraries that handle numbers, currencies, dates, and pluralization across locales.
