Job summary

OpenEye, a subsidiary of Alarm.com, is hiring a Senior Software Engineer to develop and maintain the Apex Server application using C++, Java, and modern frameworks. You will drive architecture changes, major feature work, and performance improvements while mentoring peers in a collaborative environment.

Responsibilities include leading projects, collaborating with Product Management, and ensuring high-quality, scalable software.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in CS or related field.
• 5+ years of professional software engineering experience.
• Expertise in C++ and Java.
• Strong understanding of OO programming and development practices.
• Ability to quickly learn new technologies and practices.
• Excellent critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
• Strong quality ethic and test-first attitude.
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
• Hands-on experience using AI-powered development tools to accelerate day-to-day tasks.

Responsibilities

• Independently design, develop, and maintain software, including major architectural changes, high-complexity feature additions, performance enhancements, and bug fixes for critical problems.
• Lead significant development projects with minimal oversight, including scoping, designing, prioritizing, and collaboration for timely delivery.
• Collaborate with Product Management and stakeholders to design and deliver high-quality software solutions.
• Interface with various departments and sometimes customers to address complex use cases.
• Provide guidance and mentorship to other developers.
• Drive technical discussions across teams and promote architectural standards.
• Ensure high-quality code through peer reviews and maintainable solutions.
• Participate actively in Agile processes to improve workflows.
• Communicate solutions clearly across technical and non-technical audiences.
