Job summary

Randstad USA is seeking a Senior Cloud Software Engineer to join our client in Washington, D.C., designing, developing, and operating resilient, high-volume cloud applications in AWS. In this role, you will lead technical designs, build robust REST APIs and event-driven microservices using Java 21+, Spring Boot, and Python, and drive CI/CD automation.

You will mentor mid-level engineers, architect multi-region failover strategies, improve MTTR, and maintain high availability across production

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent practical experience.
• 7+ years of hands-on software development experience.
• Strong proficiency with Java 21+, Spring Boot, RESTful services, and Python.
• Deep experience with core AWS services: ECS/Fargate, SQS/SNS, Lambda, S3, CloudWatch, Aurora PostgreSQL.
• Proven track record designing fault-tolerant distributed systems across AWS AZs and Regions.
• Experience with database performance tuning, data modeling, and SQL.
• Active AWS Certification (Developer, Solutions Architect Associate, or Cloud Practitioner).
• Solid background in automated unit/integration testing and CI/CD tools.

Responsibilities
