About The Role

We are a passionate team of engineers solving complex distributed systems and infrastructure problems. We are building Kora as a high-availability, high-performance managed storage service. You will develop a scalable, reliable, durable, and multi-tenant storage engine, driving technical solutions end-to-end in collaboration with stakeholders.

What You Will Do

• Design, develop, and operationalize the core storage engine for Confluent Cloud, ensuring high performance and resilience.
• Lead complex software projects from conception to production, focusing on quality.
• Identify root causes of issues and implement effective solutions.
• Troubleshoot and improve operations across multiple cloud environments.
• Collaborate effectively with team members and make decisions benefiting the team and company.
• Focus on customer success by solving challenging problems.

What You Will Bring

• BSc, MSc, or PhD in computer science or related field, or equivalent experience.
• 4+ years of experience in cloud infrastructure or networking.
• Strong knowledge of distributed systems design and development.
• Experience with large-scale cloud systems.
• Understanding of system operations (disk, network, OS).
• Self-motivated with effective teamwork skills.
• Proficiency in Java, Scala, C/C++, Go, or similar languages.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with distributed storage systems or databases.
• Knowledge of resource management and QoS.
• Experience with cloud providers (AWS, Azure, GCP).
• Interest in technical evangelism (conference talks, blogging).
