Job summary

Jeppesen ForeFlight is seeking a Senior Software Engineer II to develop the next generation of JDM for desktop and mobile devices used to load aviation data onto avionics systems.

The role targets experienced engineers with a background in mission-critical desktop and mobile apps, native and cross-platform frameworks, and strong collaboration across product, QA, and DevOps teams. You will shape architecture, reliability, and performance while embracing AI-assisted development.

Qualifications

• 6–8 years of experience.
• Proficiency in Rust, C++, Java, Kotlin, or Swift.
• Strong frontend experience with React.
• Hands-on cross-platform desktop or mobile frameworks (Tauri, Electron, React Native, Flutter).
• Solid native platforms knowledge (macOS/Windows/Linux/iOS/Android).
• Experience building production desktop/mobile apps in mission-critical environments.
• Experience with filesystems, removable media, or device data workflows.

Responsibilities

• Lead development of JDM's desktop and mobile applications, driving feature parity with the legacy app while improving architecture, reliability, and performance
• Lead the development of JDM's mobile applications
• Build robust workflows for writing aviation data to USB drives, SD cards, and other avionics media
• Define long-term desktop application architecture and establish effective AI-assisted engineering practices
• Collaborate with product managers, QA engineers, avionics specialists, DevOps, and other engineering teams to deliver a production-ready customer experience
