Job summary

Signifyd is seeking a senior back‑end engineer to own the public‑facing API platform and ingestion services used by retailers to integrate with Signifyd for production onboarding.

You will design, build, and scale real‑time systems, collaborating with product, data engineering, and other engineering teams. Mentoring peers and driving architectural decisions are key aspects of the role.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience.
• Experience with modern programming languages, experience programming in a functional style.
• Track record of leading the design and delivery of large, ambiguous projects end to end, and influencing technical direction beyond your own team.
• Strong software design and architecture skills, including designing for scalability, performance, and reliability of high‑traffic systems.
• Experience building distributed systems or public‑facing/platform APIs.
• Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS or GCP.
• Ability to effectively communicate with engineers and non‑engineers alike.
• You use modern AI development tools fluently to ship faster without sacrificing quality.

The Role

We are looking for a senior back‑end engineer who is passionate about designing and building world‑class services. As a member of the Integrations & Onboarding team, you will own the public‑facing API platform and ingestion services that retailers use to integrate with Signifyd and onboard to production. We seek an experienced engineer with a track record of building innovative, highly‑scalable products who can understand key system requirements, design elegant solutions, and work with other engineers and managers to architect and lay out the work.

This means practical experience with AI coding assistants, understanding how to provide effective context, and critically evaluating generated code for correctness, security, maintainability, and long‑term code quality.

Compensation

In the United States, each work location is assigned a specific pay zone, which determines the salary range for a given position. The starting base salary for the selected candidate will be based on a variety of factors, including job‑related skills, experience, qualifications, geographic location, and current market conditions.

Base Salary Ranges by Pay Zone

• Tier 1 (NYC/SF Bay Area/Seattle): $190,000 – $220,000 annually
• Tier 2 (DC Metro/Austin/Chicago/Denver/Boston/Los Angeles/San Diego): $180,000 – $210,000 annually
• Tier 3 (US – All Other): $170,000 – $200,000 annually

Equity

This role is eligible for a stock option grant of 6,000 stock options, based on the position level and internal compensation guidelines.

Bonus

This role is eligible for an annual performance bonus of up to 10% of base salary.
