Job summary

Taxfyle LLC in Coconut Grove, FL is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to join our Engineering team. This is a high-impact individual contributor role focused on deep technical work, system architecture, and leading by example.

You will own significant projects, establish coding standards, and mentor engineers while collaborating with Product to shape the roadmap and technical direction. In-office with remote flexibility and a fast-paced startup culture.

Qualifications

• 6+ years of experience building and shipping production software.
• Bachelor’s degree appreciated but not required; practical experience valued.

Role Summary

Taxfyle is looking for a Senior Software Engineer to join our Engineering team and help build our high-powered work management platform. This is our highest individual contributor level and a legitimate long-term destination for engineers who want to go deep technically and lead without moving into management. You bring subject matter expertise across multiple system areas, make architectural decisions the whole team relies on, and actively multiply the impact of the engineers around you. The patterns you introduce become team-wide standards. You are able to take Product requirements from multiple different stakeholders and come up with coherent solutions for your team to implement. As a growing tech startup, we value builders who own outcomes, think at the system level, and help set the technical direction for the entire Engineering organization.

Key Responsibilities

• Build high-quality, innovative, and high-performing software solutions
• Serve as subject matter expert across multiple areas of our system and tech stack (C#, React, TypeScript, Node.js, .NET, GCP, Postgres, Pub/Sub, Elasticsearch)
• Make sound architectural and technical decisions with team-wide impact — bring first-principles reasoning and clearly document trade-offs
• Own delivery of significant, complex projects with multiple moving pieces and full autonomy
• Identify and mitigate technical risk early — raise concerns before they become problems and unblock others when things get complicatedSet the bar in code review: patterns and standards you enforce are what the rest of the team is measured against
• Actively grow L1 and L2 engineers through mentorship, deliberate pairing, and code review feedback that teaches, not just approves
• Establish and maintain engineering practices in partnership with the Engineering Manager and Principal Engineer
• Lead the pod technically — set direction, ensure alignment, and translate product decisions into clear technical plans for the team
• Collaborate with Product at a senior level — contribute to roadmap and scoping conversations, not just react to them
• Clearly communicate architectural decisions to both technical and non-technical stakeholders
• Remain flexible to handle the complexity and ambiguity that comes with a fast-growing company and evolving product

Requirements

• 6+ years of experience building and shipping production-quality software is preferred. A Bachelor’s degree in a related field is appreciated but not required - equivalent practical experience (e.g. internships, technical training, hands-on projects) is valued. Candidates may come from non-traditional backgrounds.
• Proficiency across our technology stack: C#, React, TypeScript, Node.js, .NET, GCP, Postgres, Pub/Sub, and Elasticsearch
• Demonstrated track record of making architectural decisions that had team-wide impact
• Experience owning and delivering multi-piece, cross-functional projects with full autonomy
• Deep expertise in multiple areas of a complex codebase, with the ability to handle genuinely ambiguous problems
• Experience developing high-performance, scalable, and distributed systems
• Strong mentorship track record — engineers around you improve because of your feedback and coaching
• Ability to drive engineering best practices and establish standards adopted by the team
• A positive attitude, a passion for sharing knowledge, and a borderline unhealthy commitment to code quality

• Experience establishing engineering frameworks or practices adopted by an entire team
• Background leading technical direction in a fast-moving startup environment
• Experience contributing to product roadmap, scoping, and technical strategy alongside Product and leadership
• Experience with AI, automation, or developer tooling that improves team productivity at scale
