Job summary

Blue Origin in Washington state seeks a Software Engineer to join the Dataplane team. You will design and implement high-performance packet processing software in C/C++ for the TeraWave PoP, targeting 100G/400G speeds with microsecond latency goals.

You will work at the intersection of Linux kernel and user-space networking, develop drivers for SmartNICs/FPGA offloads, and mentor junior engineers while collaborating with platform and network teams on dataplane requirements and benchmarking.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or related field.
• 2+ years of experience shipping carrier-grade networking software.
• Expert-level proficiency in C or C++ and Linux systems programming.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop high-performance packet processing applications in C/C++ for 100G/400G speeds.
• Implement and integrate IP routing protocols (BGP, OSPF, IS-IS) and tunneling headers (SRv6, MPLS, GRE).
• Develop drivers and software interfaces for hardware accelerators and SmartNICs; mentor junior engineers.
