Read AI in Seattle seeks a Senior Software Engineer to own experimentation infrastructure and raise data governance standards across Engineering and Product. This isn’t a maintenance role; you’ll build and harden the experimentation stack that the company relies on to ship confidently.

You’ll work with Product, Data Science, and Design to turn growth hypotheses into measurable experiments, while mentoring junior engineers and setting technical standards across the Growth domain.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of full-stack software engineering experience.

The Role

As a Senior Software Engineer on the Growth team, you'll own a critical piece of how Read AI tests, measures, and learns. This isn't a maintenance role — you'll be building and hardening the experimentation infrastructure that the whole company depends on to ship with confidence, while also raising the bar for data governance and metric trust across Engineering and Product.

You'll work closely with Product, Data Science, and Design to turn growth hypotheses into shipped, measurable experiments — you'll have real influence over the technical standards and tools the team adopts. This role also comes with a mentorship component: you'll actively invest in the growth of junior and mid-level engineers on the team.

What You'll Do

Own experimentation infrastructure

• Build, scale, and harden the systems that power A/B testing and experimentation across the company
• Improve experiment trust and throughput — faster cycle times, cleaner instrumentation, fewer invalid tests
• Identify and personally resolve high‑impact issues in the experimentation stack

Drive technical direction

• Evaluate new tools and approaches relevant to experimentation and data governance
• Build team consensus around what's worth adopting — and what isn't
• Set technical standards that other engineers in the Growth domain look to

Partner cross‑functionally

• Work with Product and Data Science to translate hypotheses into shippable, measurable experiments
• Help instrument features cleanly so metrics can be trusted downstream

Mentor and grow the team

• Invest meaningfully in the skill and judgment growth of junior and mid‑level engineers
• Model the engineering craft and rigor you want the team to operate at

What We're Looking For

• 5+ years of full‑stack software engineering experience
• Strong experience with TypeScript/React and Python/FastAPI (or comparable stacks)
• Hands‑on experience designing or running A/B tests / experimentation systems
• Comfort with SQL and working directly with product/analytics data
• A track record of taking ownership of systems end‑to‑end — not just writing code to spec
• Experience mentoring other engineers

Nice to Have

• Experience building experimentation or feature‑flagging infrastructure from scratch
• Background in growth engineering or product analytics
• Familiarity with data governance practices and metric definition frameworks
• Experience operating in a high‑growth startup environment

Software Engineer positions offer a base pay range of $180,000 - $210,000, plus equity and benefits. Please note that the base pay shown is a guideline, and individual total compensation will vary based on factors such as qualifications, skill level, competencies, and work location. We also offer low deductible health plans, as well as flexible time away and family leave programs.
