The Cboe Clearing US team is hiring for a Senior Software Engineer.

The Sr. Software Engineer at Cboe will be working on creating the most cutting-edge trading and clearing system to power the next generation digital asset exchange. In this role you will work closely and lead with other technologists and financial experts to design, develop, and improve on our critical trading and clearing systems.

You will contribute to the team by helping define engineering best practices, architectural patterns, and standards. Collaboration with other team members to solve complex problems that meet the demands of the financial technology space will be part of your day-to-day responsibilities.

The systems you will work on will facilitate onboarding automation, account management, movement of funds for both crypto and fiat, blockchain interactions and trading of spot and futures derivatives. Given the critical nature of these systems, they must be designed with high availability and high performance as a key requirement through the use of microservices, reliable message queues, and database clusters.

Your responsibilities will be:

  • Design, develop, and maintain high-performance, scalable cloud-native microservices using Java and Spring Boot.
  • Write clean, well-documented, and testable code. Contribute to code reviews.
  • Collaborate with business stakeholders to understand to document business processes and with frontend engineers, DevOps engineers, and product managers to deliver high-quality software.
  • Design, develop and implement business processes using an Orchestration tool (like Camunda or alike)
  • Design and implement efficiently optimized relational data access (like PostgreSQL or similar databases) and proficient in Document DB models.
  • Provide technical support by troubleshooting and resolving production issues.

The ideal candidate has:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of experience as a Backend Software Engineer.
  • Strong proficiency and experience in Java and Spring Boot.
  • Extensive experience with Camunda BPMN and workflow automation.
  • Experience with business process modeling and BPMN diagrams.
  • Knowledge of cloud-native architectures and distributed systems.
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills.
  • Proficiency in version control systems, such as Git, and familiarity with DevOps processes are essential.

You’ll really stand out with:

  • Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
  • Experience in the capital markets clearing industry.
  • Knowledge of financial messaging protocols (e.g., FIX).
  • Experience with message queues (e.g., Kafka, RabbitMQ).
  • Experience with Kubernetes and Docker.
  • Experience with RESTful APIs and microservices architectures.
  • Experience with distributed tracing tools.

The national new hire base pay range for this job in the United States is $114,750-$141,750. This range represents the minimum and maximum base pay the company expects to offer for new hires working in the position full time. US Geographic Differentials:

  • 110%: Austin TX, Chicago IL, Denver CO, San Diego CA

  • 115%: Los Angeles CA, Seattle WA

  • 120%: Boston MA, Washington DC

  • 125%: New York City NY

  • 130%: San Francisco CA

Within the range, individual pay is determined by a number of factors, including, but not limited to, work location , job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
