Job summary

Awin is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to join the Billing & Payments tribe and help extend our Affiliate Marketing platform. You will design and build reliable services, write clean, secure, and well-tested code, and own features from design to deployment.

In a cloud-first AWS environment, you will work with Java/Spring, Kafka, SQL/NoSQL databases, Docker, and modern CI/CD practices, collaborating with Product, UX, and Agile teams to deliver scalable, high-quality solutions.

Qualifications

• 6+ years of professional software engineering experience.
• Strong OOP foundation with Java/Spring expertise.
• Hands-on AWS and microservices with REST APIs.
• Experience with SQL and NoSQL databases (e.g., DynamoDB, MongoDB).
• Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and Git in collaborative teams.
• Solid understanding of SOLID principles and clean code.
• Exposure to AI tooling and agile Scrum environments.

Responsibilities

• Work within a small, collaborative team using agile methodologies and practices.
• Take ownership of applications across the full lifecycle, from design and implementation to operation.
• Proactively identify improvement opportunities and technical risks, helping shape technical direction and AI use.

Purpose of Position

As a Senior Software Engineer, you will be part of a cross‑functional, service‑oriented team, working on extending and maintaining our Affiliate Marketing platform. You design and build reliable services by writing clean, secure, and well‑tested code, following modern engineering best practices.

In this role, you have a significant impact on system efficiency, technical quality, and team effectiveness. You take ownership of meaningful challenges, balancing technical excellence and AI leadership with sustainable product and business needs, and contribute to a collaborative, agile way of working.

Your work plays a jey role in strengthening our billing and payments capabilities, directly supporting the business and our customers at scale.

The Team

You’ll join our Billing & Payments tribe, owning a core domain of the business: how customers are billed and partners get paid. Our engineering culture values pragmatic solutions, automation, strong ownership, and continuous improvement supported by open feedback loops.

We are moving towards a cloud first architecture with a strong focus on AWS, working with technologies such as Java/Spring, Kafka, AWS Lambda, SQL/NoSQL databases, Docker, Claude and more.

Key Tasks

• Support an effective agile way of working by helping facilitate team ceremonies and workshops
• Mentor engineers through code reviews, knowledge sharing, and day‑to‑day collaboration
• Troubleshoot and resolve production issues, ensuring service reliability and operational stability
• Communicate effectively in writing and verbally with local and remote colleagues and stakeholders

Whilst the above outlines the general expectations of the role, we expect this position to evolve over time, offering opportunities to gain deeper knowledge and experience within the online and affiliate marketing domain.

Skills & Expertise

• 6+ years of professional software engineering experience
• Strong foundation in OOP and comfort working with multiple programming languages, ideally incl. Java/Spring
• Current knowledge of AI tooling and best practices for software development
• Passion for clean, maintainable code with a strong understanding of SOLID principles
• Hands‑on experience designing AWS‑based systems, microservices with REST APIs, and event‑driven architectures
• Focus on engineering quality through code reviews, testing, and test strategy improvement
• Responsibility for maintaining CI/CD pipelines for reliable, automated software delivery
• Confident use of Git or similar version control systems in a collaborative environment
• Solid understanding of relational databases, data modelling, and SQL
• Familiarity with non‑relational databases like DynamoDB, MongoDB
• Basic knowledge of web technologies and modern frontend frameworks, ideally Angular
• Proven collaboration in cross‑functional teams with Product, UX, and Agile roles
• Extensive exposure to agile processes, particularly Scrum
