The Affirm Experimentation Platform (AXP) team empowers Affirm to make data-driven decisions and enable safe rollouts. We support launches through Feature Flags and enable hypothesis-driven learning through controlled experiments that help grow the business.

AXP builds the APIs, systems, and workflows that allow engineers to target, ramp, and measure changes. We believe simpler is better and strive to improve our engineers' ability to deliver impact without compromising availability.

What You'll Do

1. You will be responsible for owning and delivering quarterly goals for your team, leading engineers through ambiguity to solve open-ended problems, and ensuring support throughout delivery.
2. You will collaborate with product management, design, and analytics in the product development lifecycle by participating in ideation, articulating technical constraints, and partnering on risk-aware decisions.
3. You will proactively identify and advocate for project, process, technology, or business issues, leading efforts to resolve them.
4. You will support your team’s operations and system availability by creating and monitoring metrics, escalating issues, and supporting on-call efforts.
5. You will foster a culture of quality and ownership by setting or improving code review and design standards, and promoting them via writing and tech talks.
6. You will develop talent on your team by providing feedback, guidance, and leading by example.

What We Look For

1. 4+ years of experience designing, developing, and launching backend systems at scale using languages like Python or Kotlin.
2. Experience with highly available distributed systems using AWS, MySQL, and Kubernetes.
3. Ability to define technical plans for significant features with elegant, simple, and extensible designs, and to write high-quality, understandable code.
4. Proficiency in making large-scale code changes safely, with tools and practices to support this.
5. Ownership of personal growth, proactively seeking feedback from teams, managers, and stakeholders.
6. Strong communication skills for effective collaboration within a global engineering team.
7. Equivalent practical experience or a Bachelor’s degree in a related field.
