Job summary

Optum is seeking a Sr. Software Engineer to join the UMR clinical technology team as an ETL Developer. You will design end-to-end data integration, resolve complex production issues, and drive AI tool adoption across the SDLC to deliver robust, automated workflows.

The role supports telecommuting from anywhere in the U.S. with a strong backend data focus, SQL/Oracle expertise, and experience with AI-driven automation and modern data platforms.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of production operational support for high-availability systems.
• 4+ years software engineering with SQL, Oracle, PL/SQL and Unix scripting.
• 3+ years with AI/ML solutions, Snowflake, APIs, including AI-driven automation.
• 3+ years with GitHub, CI/CD pipelines, code reviews, and DevOps best practices.
• 3+ years with Kafka for event-driven/streaming architectures.
• 3+ years data engineering with Snowflake and relational databases.
• 2+ years with Apache Airflow and TWSd batch jobs.

Responsibilities

• Analyze requirements to design, develop, and deliver E2E software and data integration solutions for Clinical Datawarehouse and Reporting Platform systems.
• Provide production support to maintain system availability, stability, and performance.
• Drive AI tool adoption across SDLC to streamline requirements analysis, design, and deployment.
• Design AI-powered data-processing features to optimize pipelines and data quality.
• Provide on-call support for production environments and after-hours support.
• Resolve production issues by debugging, logs analysis, and root-cause fixes.
• Manage code reviews and migrations across deployment environments.
• Establish automated testing and CD workflows and version control best practices.
• Evaluate emerging AI/ML trends to inform robust clinical data architecture.
