Job summary

Imperative Care in Campbell, CA is hiring a Senior Software Engineer, Embedded Test Automation to design and build hardware-in-the-loop test infrastructure, automated firmware tests, and manufacturing tools for the embedded platform. You will integrate tests into CI/CD workflows and collaborate with software, electrical, systems, manufacturing, and quality teams to automate tasks and collect data.

The role requires strong Python, Linux, CI/CD experience and familiarity with embedded systems;

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in CS/CE/EE or related field with 5+ years of relevant experience.
• Experience with embedded systems, C/C++, CAN/UART/Ethernet preferred.
• Strong Python automation skills and experience with test frameworks and manufacturing tools.

Responsibilities

• Design, implement, and maintain hardware-in-the-loop test systems and automated fixtures for embedded firmware and hardware
• Build reusable Python automation for component, integration, regression, and fault-injection testing
• Create and maintain manufacturing tools for device programming, provisioning, configuration, calibration, and diagnostics
• Integrate embedded tests and hardware test stations into CI/CD workflows
• Collaborate with embedded software, electrical, systems, manufacturing, and quality teams to develop tools to automate tasks and collect data

• This position is on-site and full-time
• The Senior Software Engineer, Embedded Test Automation designs and develops automation used to test, integrate, and manufacture the embedded systems within our medical robotic platform. This hands-on role will build hardware-in-the-loop test infrastructure, automated firmware tests, and reliable manufacturing tools
• Design, implement, and maintain hardware-in-the-loop test systems and automated fixtures for embedded firmware and hardware
• Build reusable Python automation for component, integration, regression, and fault-injection testing
• Create and maintain manufacturing tools for device programming, provisioning, configuration, calibration, and diagnostics
• Integrate embedded tests and hardware test stations into CI/CD workflows

Experience with Linux, Git, automated test frameworks such as pytest, and CI/CD systems; experience with containers and build automation is a plusStrong Python software-development skills and experience creating maintainable automation frameworks, test tools, or manufacturing utilitiesExperience automating hardware/software or electromechanical systems using test fixtures, laboratory equipment, or hardware-in-the-loop environmentsBachelor’s degree in computer science, computer engineering, electrical engineering, or a related field and a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience; or an equivalent combination of education and work experienceExperience with C or C++, embedded systems, and communication interfaces such as CAN, UART, or Ethernet is preferred. Experience in manufacturing, medical devices, or another regulated or safety-critical environment is also a plus
