Job summary

Vaco by Highspring is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to design, build, and maintain high-quality software for industrial and embedded systems. You will provide technical leadership across the full software lifecycle and mentor junior engineers.

The ideal candidate has strong C++ expertise, hands-on embedded Linux experience, and deep knowledge of secure, reliable software design. Collaboration with hardware, QA, product, and other engineering teams is essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related field; Master's preferred.
• 5+ years of software development experience, including 3+ years in production C++.
• Experience with C++ in embedded Linux and performance-constrained environments.
• Strong software architecture skills for industrial/embedded systems.
• Hands-on experience with real-time software, low-latency, and IPC.
• Familiarity with cybersecurity for IoT/embedded devices (TLS, TPM2, secure updates).
• Experience with hardware-in-the-loop testing and CI/CD pipelines.

Responsibilities

• Lead design and implementation of software for industrial and embedded systems.
• Architect and maintain scalable, reliable software modules.
• Develop unit, integration, and black-box tests to ensure quality.
• Collaborate with hardware, QA, product management, and other teams.
• Mentor junior engineers and improve development practices.
• Document software design specs, installation instructions, and guidelines.
• Travel up to 10% for field activities in the US and internationally.
