Job summary

NVIDIA is seeking a senior embedded software engineer to advance the Jetson platform for AI at the edge. You will influence hardware analysis through boot firmware, the Linux kernel, and device SDKs, working across a global software team.

Collaborate with hardware and product teams to define system-level architectures for complex SOM designs, build scalable services, optimize resource use, and maintain high software quality and performance through rigorous lifecycle stages.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) in Science or a Master’s with 5+ years in Linux and embedded systems.
• 8+ years of industry experience developing and sustaining embedded products through full lifecycle.
• Strong collaboration to guide multiple teams and extend knowledge into new areas.
• Analytical mindset with focus on problem solving and performance.
• Hands-on development of high-quality software with C/C++/Python/Bash and mentoring.

What You'll Be Doing

• Define and expose the capabilities of Jetson and bring the latest generations of AI at-the-edge platform to life.
• Contribute extensively from hardware platform analysis through boot firmware to the Linux kernel and operating system, including specialized software SDKs.
• Lead and collaborate within a worldwide software development team and have a broad impact within our highly dynamic and technology-focused company.
• Collaborate with hardware and product design teams to build and develop system-level software architectures for complex system-on-module embedded platform designs.
• Build, implement, and improve system services to ensure scalability, reliability, efficiency, and security.
• Resolve complex system-level optimization and resource utilization challenges.
• Participate in a product development lifecycle that values high standards for clear requirements, software quality, and performance.

What We Need To See

• Bachelor's degree (or equivalent experience) in Science or a Master’s degree accompanied by over 5 years of demonstrated experience in Linux and advanced embedded systems development.
• 8+ years of industry experience with responsibility for developing and sustaining commercially available embedded products through a full product lifecycle.
• Strong technical collaboration abilities and capability to guide multiple teams.
• Enthusiasm for extending technical knowledge into new areas.
• Strong analytical skills and proven success in problem-solving and achieving performance objectives.
• Hands-on development of high-quality software with C/C++/Python/Bash and eagerness to mentor others.

Ways To Stand Out From The Crowd

• Contributions to open-source software projects and experience in Linux Kernel and device driver creation.
• Developing complete platform Board Support Package (BSP) for release.
• Experience with GPU, Graphic driver, and X11 Development.
• Strong knowledge of embedded software release procedures, Jenkins pipeline, automated testing, and OTA.
• Comprehensive grasp of security principles and skill in reviewing products and architectures to produce security assessments; experience with Jetson, IGX or DGX Spark developer kits.

Your base salary will be determined based on your location, experience, and the pay of employees in similar positions. The base salary range is 184,000 USD - 287,500 USD.

You will also be eligible for equity and benefits.
