Job summary

Syms Strategic Group, LLC is seeking a Senior Software Developer to join a 100% U.S.-based remote team focusing on Edifecs-based EDI operations for the Veterans Affairs department. The role requires deep hands-on experience with Edifecs components, AWS, and collaboration with cross-functional teams.

The ideal candidate has 8+ years in EDI/healthcare or enterprise ops, strong AWS skills, and a proven ability to drive architecture decisions with non-technical stakeholders.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of experience in EDI, healthcare, or enterprise application operations.
• 8+ years of experience in software or data engineering with strong AWS experience.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical discipline; equivalent practical experience considered.

Responsibilities

• Administer, configure, troubleshoot, and enhance the Edifecs platform, ensuring reliable and compliant EDI transaction processing.
• Configure and maintain Edifecs components (XEServer, XEngine, TPM, SpecBuilder).
• Build, deploy, and optimize Edifecs processing rules, routing logic, and batch workflows.
• Analyze and resolve mapping issues, validation failures, functional errors, and performance bottlenecks.
• Manage system logging, JVM tuning, and certificate/keystore configurations.
• Support release deployments, environment refreshes, patching, and upgrades.
• Collaborate with EDI Analysts, DevSecOps Engineers, Cloud teams, and business teams.
